Arlene Kay (Wight) Lortie

May 7, 1942 ~ June 13, 2019 (age 77)

Arlene Kay (Wight) Lortie, age 77, passed away on June 13, 2019 in American Fork, Utah due to natural causes.  She was born on May 7, 1942 in Toledo, Oregon to Velma May Hammer and Richard Edward Wight.

Arlene grew up on a 640-acre ranch in Spray, Oregon.  She has a twin sister named Darlene.  She has a younger brother named Gary Wight.  At age 18, she was the Spray Oregon Rodeo Queen.  When she graduated from high school there were only 4 people in her graduating class, and one was her twin sister.  She married Robert Donald Hunt and they had two sons, Timothy Robert Hunt and Ricky Allen Hunt. They were only 14 months apart.  Their father was in the Army as a member of the 101st Airborne.  He was a paratrooper.  They lived in Kentucky for a while, which is where Rick was born.  Arlene was married a few times to Cecil Holt, James Moore, and Ralph Lortie.

After her last divorce, she moved to Heppner to be near her aging mother.  Her mother Velma May Hammer lived to 101 years and only passed away in November of 2018.  Twenty-one years ago, her son Tim Hunt brought her to Utah to live by him.  He and his family cared for her for the last 21 years.  Since her stroke 8 years ago she has lived at Beehive Homes in American Fork, near her son's family.  Even with her stroke she carried on for a long time and though paralyzed was very active.  She loved to play bingo and Uno at the care center and won a lot of candy playing bingo.  She didn't eat most of it but saved it for when her grandkids came by to visit.

She is survived by her brother, Gary Wight (wife Jerri), her sister Darlene Manthey, her two sons, Tim (wife Cindy) with his 11 children and Rick (wife Vicky) with his 5 children and 2 step-children.  She also had 17 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson (Mason Thomas Hunt).

A funeral will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 600 S 100 W, American Fork, UT.  Viewing from 5:00-5:45 pm and Services from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Interment will take place at Council, Idaho,  I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Council, Idaho on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 am under the care of Aspen Funeral Home.
